Updated June 30th, 2026

Needs Grading Widget

For teacher-graded assignments, once students submit their assignment, teachers will find the assignment card listed on the Needs Grading Widget.  To edit the assignment settings, select the pencil icon next to due date on the assignment card.

Assignments Due Calendar Widget

Use the Assignments Due Calendar Widget to locate an assignment based on a specific due date or range of dates.

Then select the pencil icon located near the due date and time to edit the assignment.

Assignments Tab

Teachers can also edit assignment settings from the Assignments Tab.

Locate the specific assignment, then select the pencil icon located near the due date and time in red text.

Grade By Student

Teachers can access the Grade By Student tab using two simple methods:

  1. From the Assignments Tab: Click the on Assignments tab and then select By Student button.

2. From the Gradebook: Navigate to the Gradebook first, then select the class from classes from the classes dropdown in which the student is rostered in. Then click on the Assignment title to view the assignment management options to choose from. Select Grade by Student option.

Clicking on the Assignment Title will display the Assignment Management menu with options. The teacher will have to select the ‘By Student’ option to navigate to the ‘Grade By Student’ screen.

From the Grade By Student tab, click Setting button highlighted in the image below to access the assignment settings.

Settings button can also be accessed via Preview Activity tab, Summary tab and Grade by Question tab in the similar manner as explained below.

Clicking on the Assignment Settings will display Edit Assignment screen. The assignment settings can be edited and saved. All the fields with regards to Edit Assignment are explained in the next tab / section  ‘Editing Assignment Settings’ .

To navigate back to the Gradebook, the teacher will have to click on the View Gradebook link on the top left corner of the page.

From the Edit Assignment view, the teacher is allowed to select the View Summary link. Clicking on the View Summary link will display a detailed summary of all student assessment submissions.

Once all the changes are made, click on the Save button located at the bottom of the screen.

A green save notification message will be displayed.

Gradebook

To edit assignments from the Gradebook, select the assignment title then select Edit from the pop-up menu.

Clicking on Edit option will navigate the teacher to the Edit Assignment screen of the selected Assignment.

Editing Assignment Settings

From the Edit Assignment Screen, the teacher can edit the general Assignment Information as well as edit Additional Information such as start/due dates and times, display grades, etc.  These additional details can be edited for the entire assignment globally, for individual students and in bulk.

If the teacher enables the "Include in Reports" toggle on the assignment creation screen while assigning it to a class, this setting will automatically update and display as enabled on the "Edit Assignment" screen.

If the teacher edit the assignment globally for all students or for just an individual student, make sure to scroll to the bottom of the screen and press the blue Save button on the left side of the screen when the teacher is finished editing the assignment.

Filter via Student Groups

If the teacher created a group linked to the class assignment, a student selection by group appears in Edit Assignment. If no group is linked, the Select Group dropdown will display No Groups option by default.

Selecting a group preselects its students, allowing the teacher to edit them individually or all at once.

To edit the assignment settings in bulk for multiple students at one time, select the checkboxes on the left side of the students' names then edit the settings in the pop-up blue menu.  When complete, select the blue Apply button then select the blue Save button at the bottom of the screen to save the changes made.

Then edit the settings in the pop-up blue menu and press the blue Apply button. All changes entered will be reflected for the students selected.

Assigned to : Open to All Students Assignment

The teacher will notice the Assigned Checkbox not enabled for all students when the assignment is selected as Open to all students.

When a student already attempts a test ( Started or Submitted), the Assigned Checkbox will be in enabled status.

The teacher will not be able to unselect the Assigned Checkbox , if the test has already been started by the student.

Assigned to : NOT an Open to All Students Assignment

The teacher will notice the Assigned Checkbox enabled in Edit Assignment screen for those selected students during release of an assignment.

If the teacher wants to add a new student to the assessment, the teacher can click on Assigned Checkbox to assign the assignment for the student.

NOTE: Release Assignment screen showing selected students for reference and understanding.

If the teacher have assigned the resource more than once, the teacher can select View All on the top right of the Edit Assignment screen to access the assignment settings for another assignment of the same resource.

Before leaving the Edit Assignment screen, scroll to the bottom of the screen and press the blue Save button to save all changes.

To return to the Gradebook, select View Gradebook at the top left of the screen.
