Grading
How do I know that questions are excluded from grading ?
Updated June 30th, 2026
The Summary page alerts the teacher that a specific question has been excluded from grading by displaying the following symbol
in the question column.
Teachers can locate the Grade Summary page by clicking on the assignment title from the Needs Grading widget, the Assignment Due widget and the Gradebook module.
Excluded questions will not be graded, not calculated into the Final Score and will not be displayed in the Grade by Questions tab.

When accessing the Grade By Student tab, teachers can easily identify questions excluded from grading. These non-gradable questions are visually marked with a 0 in the Score field and feature a distinctive green header next to the question number containing the text "Set not to grade".

When accessing the Grade By Questions tab, questions configured to be excluded from grading are visually distinguished by a hyphen (-) displayed adjacent to the question type in the % Possible or Points Possible column.
