How to Grade Interactive Types of Assignments
Updated June 30th, 2026
Interactive types of assignments include Digital Student Book, Vocabulary Quizzes, Vocabulary Builders, ExperTrack etc.

When digitally assigned, students can submit the assignment within the GO Platform. Teachers can then access, review, and evaluate these submissions using either the Grade By Student tab (to focus on all questions from an individual student) or the Grade By Question tab (to grade a specific question across multiple students, moving from one student to the next).
Accessing Interactive Assignments for Grading
Teachers can access their Interactive assignments for grading from several areas within the Gallopade Online Platform including the Needs Grading Widget, Assignments Due Widget, Assignment tab, and Gradebook (via By Student / By Question option).

Assignment Information
At the top of the Grade By Student and Grade By Question screen, teachers will find the assignment details including how many students were assigned the resource, how many have submitted, and the assignment start and due date/time.
In this area, teachers can also view the correlated standards by selecting the book icon
and view the resource description, instructional strategies, and when to use information by selecting the i icon
.

Preview Activity Tab
The Preview Activity Tab displays the preview mode of the interactive assessments with pagination at the top of the screen.

Summary Tab
The Summary tab provides the status, original and final score (displayed as points or percentage), and an item analysis of all questions included in the assignment.

At the top of the Summary tab, teachers will find the Assignment Summary. This provides data on how many students were assigned the resource, how many have been graded, the lowest and highest scores, and how many total possible points / percentage the assignment was worth.

Table Options
-
View: Scores can be viewed with the flexibility to toggle between two formats: percentage and points.
- Percentage (%): This is the default setting, showcasing both the final and original scores in percentage format.
- Points: Displays the final and original scores as raw point values.

- Print button: Enables users to print the summary page - This option is Coming soon….
Assignment Summary Status
Immediately following the Table Options, teachers will find a list of students who have been assigned the resource.
For each student, teachers will be able to view the submit date & time, status, and scores (points / percentage) earned.
Final Score and Original Score will be displayed as “0” if the student has not started the assignment.
The All Students column can be sorted alphabetically by either first or last name by clicking on the sort icon. Additional columns, including status and final grades, are also sortable to help teachers organize student information efficiently. Reports icon located next to student's name allows to view Individual Assignment Report.

Below each student's name, the system displays a numerical counter showing how many manually-graded questions still require teacher evaluation. As teachers assess each question, this counter automatically decreases, providing real-time feedback on remaining grading questions for each student.

Submit Date and Time
When a student submits the assignment, the date and time submitted will appear under the student's name.

Selecting a student's name will direct the teacher to the Grade By Student screen displaying the questions students have answered.
The Original Score and Final Score both reflect points / percentage earned. When the assignment is marked graded, the Gradebook will reflect both points earned and percentage.
The Original Score is populated when teachers score the submission by entering the amount of points earned by the student on the Grading or Selected Student tabs.
The Final Score cell allows teachers to adjust the student's final score without editing the original score. If no final score is entered, the original score will populate in the Final Score cell automatically. The score displayed in the Final Score cell will be the score reflected in the Gradebook and to the student (if allowed.)
Percentage View (Default)

When the Percentage View is selected, the system will display:
- Final Score % column with all values shown as percentages
- Original Score % column with all values shown as percentages
- Assignment Summary section will display:
- Lowest score as a percentage
- Highest score as a percentage
- Total Possible % labeled in percentage format
Point View

When the Point View is selected, the system will display:
- Final Score column with values shown as points
- Original Score column with values shown as points
- Assignment Summary section will display:
- Lowest score as points
- Highest score as points
- Total Possible labeled in point format
This viewing option complements the Grade By Student and Grade By Question tabs, giving teachers flexibility in how they review and assess student work across the platform.
View Student Notes
Clicking on "View Notes" link displays the notes submitted by the student for the assignment.

To close the Assignment notes modal, click on the X icon.
The system saves the teacher's progress automatically. If the teacher navigates away from the summary page, they can seamlessly resume exactly where they left off when they return.
Grading Teacher Scored Assignments via the Grade By Student Tab
Teachers can access the Grade By Student feature using two simple methods:
- Direct Navigation: Click the "Grade by Student" tab .
- From Summary: Navigate to the Summary tab first, then click on the student name link to access the Grade by Question page
Default view for Ungraded Question:
While the teachers access the Grade By Student tab for manually scored assignments, the system by defaults sets the Only Ungraded option from the dropdown.

‘Only Questions’ View after the Assignment is graded:
Once the assignment is graded after keying in the score in the Score box, the option changes to Only Questions in the dropdown.

‘All pages’ View for viewing both the Content and Questions page:

Clicking on the left and right arrows next to the student's name will navigate the teacher to the selected student's assessment preserving the current question or page number position.

When the teacher clicks the student dropdown menu, the dropdown menu changes accordingly as per the assignment is graded or submitted.
- If assignment is already Graded for the student, ‘Only Questions’ will be reflected in the dropdown.
- If assignment is Submitted by the student with auto-graded questions, ‘Only Ungraded’ will be reflected in the dropdown.
- If assignment is Started by the Student, ‘Only Questions’ will be reflected in the dropdown.

The system automatically displays only the first ungraded question in sequence. Questions appear clearly labeled in the text box:
- Q. 1
- Q. 2 (Auto-graded)
- And so on...
To move between multiple ungraded questions, teachers can choose either:
- The < > navigation arrows located on the right side of the Question box
- The Question drop-down menu, which provides a list of all ungraded questions for quick access (if more than one ungraded question is available in an assessment)
After viewing the question and student submission, teachers will need to navigate to the Score box. The teacher is allowed to :
- Enter an integer in the score box.
- Click on "No Credit" to assign a score of zero (0) to the student.
- Click on "Full Credit" to award the student the total possible score for the question.
Score box will be enabled only if the assignment is ‘Submitted’ by the student.

The teacher is allowed the enter the comments using the Comments button on the right side of the screen.

Clicking on the Save button will save the individual question level comments. Selecting the Cancel button disregards any changes made and closes the comment box without saving.
The Assignment Comment feature allows teachers to provide feedback for the entire assignment rather than for individual questions. This functionality is available across both Grade by Student and Grade by Question tabs. Teachers can note an arrow control to switch between Question Comments and Assignment Comments

- Assignment Comments appear in the "Assignment Comments & Note from Student" column in the Summary tab as well. Previously saved assignment comments automatically display when revisiting
- A pop-up dialog with "Cancel" and "Save" buttons is available for managing comments.

The student’s score will be displayed along with the points possible for the question.
To score the same question for the next student, teachers will need to click <> next to the Student dropdown or click the student dropdown to select the student.
Automatic Grading Confirmation :
When all teacher-graded questions have been scored for a student, the system automatically marks that student's entire assessment as “Graded”.
Grading Teacher Scored Assignments via the Grade By Question Tab
Teachers can access the Grade By Question feature by clicking on the "Grade by Question" tab. The Grade By Question tab displays a complete listing of all questions. Each question displays :

- Teacher will have to use the left/right navigation arrows to move between students
- Teacher will have to use the dropdown menu to select a specific student
The system displays "None Found" in the student dropdown when checking an assignment that hasn't been started by any students. Along with an alert message “There are no started or submitted assignments to review”.

Auto- Scored Assignments in the Grade By Student Tab
When teachers access an auto-graded assignment through the By Student tab, the system automatically defaults to the "Only Questions" from dropdown functionality. Since all questions have already been scored by the system, there are no ungraded items to filter. The teacher can notice the Graded status below the Overall points.

Since all questions are auto-scored, teachers will need to navigate to the Summary tab to view the item analysis of all questions.
To view the auto-graded questions, click the Only Questions. The student attempted answers can be seen based on the student selection.
For Auto-Scored Assignments, the All Pages option will not be available.

Auto-graded Assignments in the Grade By Questions Tab
