How do I eliminate answer choices in Single Select/Multi-Select Questions while taking up an Assignment?

Updated June 30th, 2026

First, students will need to locate their assignment using the My Assignments Widget, Assignments Tab, or Courses Tab.

An Eliminate Option tool is available to students while working on an assignment. On the right side of the screen, students can locate the “Eliminate Options” icon under the Annotation Tools section under Accessibility Tools.

If the answer choices contain images only (no text): The option label (A/B/C/D/X) will be strikedthrough. The image itself will NOT be crossed out or altered. This ensures images remain clearly visible.

When the student clicks Eliminate Options from the Annotation Tools panel, a cross (X) icon appears to the left side of all available options of the assignment.

Selecting the (X) icon next to an answer choice will display that option with a strikethrough, visually marking it as removed from options.

Eliminated choices are temporary and are not saved. However, they will remain when the student navigates to another question and returns to the same question within the same session. When a student saves and exits the assignment, all options they marked with strikethrough will be retained. However, once the assignment is submitted, these strikethrough markings will not be visible to the teacher in the grading screen.
