How can a teacher edit Advanced Grading Options of an assignment?

Updated June 30th, 2026

Grading options can be edited by the teacher from the Edit Assignment screen. Teachers will need to use the Edit option from the Assignment Due / Needs Grading widget / Assignments module / Gradebook to access the Edit assignment screen.

Accessing Advanced Grading Options before a student starts the assignment

After landing to the Edit Assignment screen, the teacher will need to scroll down the Advanced Grading Options tab.

Editing the Advanced Grading Option can only be done before any student starts the assignment.

Select the yellow alert “Changing this Grading Options would override all class assignment records” and the Advanced Grading Options will be expanded.

The teacher can notice the questions displayed and edit the question weight / percentage / change points / disable grades.

The scores can be disabled using the toggle option for score turned off (grey). The grading settings apply to all students in the assignment.

For an Interactive question based assignment, teachers will see a list of content pages and/or questions included in the assignment and can edit the weights, percentages, or mark a question to not be graded by adjusting the toggle to gray.

For a PDF, Internet Link or Video assignment, teachers will be able to edit the total points for the entire assignment.
