My Content : How to Build a Custom Resource

Teachers can create their own custom resources using the My Content feature.

+Add New

To +Add New resource, navigate to Custom Content module from the dashboard and click on the Resources Tab.

On Resources tab, click on the + Upload Resource button on the top right of the screen. 

 
 

Step 1: Resource Information

Step 1 allows teachers to create a resource by entering details such as Resource Title, selecting the course, and adding a description, along with reviewing system-generated information like System ID, Created date, and Last Modified details.

The Save and Next buttons remain disabled until a value is entered in the Resource Title field. Once a Resource Title is provided, both buttons become enabled, allowing the teacher to save the resource or proceed to the next step.

After entering the Resource Information details, teachers can click the Save button to save their progress or click the Next button to proceed to Step 2: Add Resource. A success message will appear in a green notification box at the top right corner of the screen after the teacher clicks on the Save or Next button.

 
 

Step 2: Add Resource

In Step 2 – Add Resource, teachers can add resource content by selecting a Resource Type from the dropdown menu, which is set to Text by default. Teachers can return to the previous step at any time by clicking the Previous button.

Teachers can then either click on resource type from the dropdown menu to upload a file from their system, or simply drag and drop the file directly into the upload area depending upon the resource type.

Selecting Text / HTML Resource Type

After selecting the Text / HTML Resource type from the dropdown, teachers will need to enter the Resource Text in the text box below.

Selecting Document / Image Resource Type

After selecting the Document / Image type from the dropdown, teachers will need to select the upload by using the Add a document(s) by clicking here button.

Selecting URL Resource Type

After selecting the URL Resource type from the dropdown,  teachers will need to key in the URL.

 
 

After selecting the Resource Type and providing the required input (e.g., entering a URL), click on the Next button to proceed to Step 3.

The Save and Next buttons remain disabled until the required Resource Information fields are completed. Once the necessary information is entered, both buttons become enabled and turned into blue, allowing teachers to save their progress or proceed to the next step.

 

Teachers can click on Save button to save all the changes or can click on Next button to move to 3rd step of Stanadards/Units and Chapters. A success message will appear in a green notification box at the top right corner of the screen after the teacher clicks on the Next button.

 
 

Step 3 Standards and Unit and Chapters

In Step 3 – Standards/Units and Chapters, teachers can select Standards and Units and Chapters from the available dropdown lists and enter relevant Topics/Keywords. Teachers also have the option to create and add new standards or units and chapters by clicking the + Add Standard and + Add Unit and Chapter buttons. Teachers can return to the previous step at any time by clicking the Previous button.

Adding Standards by selecting the grade level:

Click on the Add Standards button. Standard Selection modal will be displayed. The teachers will have to select the grade level from the dropdown.

Select the checkbox for standard selection. The standards can also be searched in the search box. Clicking onicon  displays the standard description. After standard selection, click the Save button. 

Adding Unit and Chapter by selecting the grade level :

Click on the Add Unit and Chapter button. Chapter / Lesson Selection modal will be displayed. The teachers will have to select the grade level from the dropdown.

Select the checkbox for Chapter / Lesson selection. The lesson / chapter can also be searched in the search box. After unit /chapter /lesson selection, click the Save button.

The teacher can close the modal by clicking on the X icon.

Standards and Unit / Chapter / Lesson selection is required for the resource to be saved.

 

Adding Keywords :

The teacher can add keywords and press enter button from the keyboard to view the added keywords.  Adding keywords will help the teachers locate their question from the list of questions when building a custom asssessment.

Once the selections have been completed, the teacher can click the Save button to save the changes or click the Next button to proceed to Step 4 – Summary/Save, where the resource can be reviewed and finalized.

Teachers can click on Save button to save all the changes or can click on Next button to move to 4th step of Summary/Save. A success message will appear in a green notification box at the top right corner of the screen after the teacher clicks on the Next button. A green success alert will appear in the top right corner to notify successful saving of the new resource.

 
 

Step 4: Summary/ Save

Step 4 allows teachers to preview the entire resource, save the final test and print. This screen allows teachers to review resource details, set the resource status, optionally share the resource with collections, and choose how to save or assign the resource.

Teachers can select the desired collections by clicking on the corresponding checkboxes to include the resource in those collections.

When No Active Collections are Available:

This section allows teachers to share the resource with one or more collections. If there are no pre-existing collections available to the teacher, an alert message will be displayed stating:
“You don’t have any active collections you can add this assessment to yet. Use Create Collection below to set one up, then you can add this assessment there"

  • Save & Assign button:

Clicking the Save & Assign button displays a green success message in the top-right corner of the screen indicating that the resource has been successfully updated, and opens the Assign modal where teachers can configure assignment settings and assign the resource to students.

  • Save & Exit button:

Clicking the Save & Exit button saves the resource and redirects the teacher back to the Resources screen. A green success message appears in the top-right corner confirming that the resource has been successfully updated.

 
 

Locating the Resource

To locate custom resources, the teacher should select the My Resources option in the Filter Resources panel on the left side of the screen. Once selected, the system will filter the results and display only the custom resources that have been created by the teacher.

 
 

Resource Preview

Once the teacher locates the desired resource, they can click on the Resource Title to open and preview the resource details. In the My Resources section, teachers can locate their custom-created resources. Clicking on the Resource Title will open a preview of the resource.
